About Great Expectations

The Virginia Foundation for Community College Education is implementing Great Expectations, a transitional education program to help teenagers in the foster care system.

Specific goals include:

  • To help youth complete high school and transition into higher education.
  • To increase awareness about the value of a community college education.
  • To increase enrollment in Independent Living Programs.
  • To increase the number of foster youth who gain employment in desirable jobs.
  • To pilot after school programs at all community colleges for younger foster care youth.

Support Great Expectations

  • Contribute to an endowment that will sustain the program
  • Ensure all foster youth in Virginia have access to programs that will help them be successful
