Recognition of Excellence (ROE) Award

The VCCS New Horizons 2010: Discover What’s Next planning committee is pleased to announce the Recognition of Excellence (ROE) Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) in the following categories. Note the information needed for each category.

Categories

1. Academic advancement

(Academic degree earned such as a masters or doctorate degree, date when degree was conferred, institution awarding the degree, title of thesis/dissertation, if applicable)

2. Publication in peer-reviewed journals

(Name of journal, volume, number, date, pages; title of article; co-authors, if applicable)

3. Publication of text book, popular book or book chapter

(Title of book; ISBN; publisher; date of publication; if a chapter, include editors, title of chapter, and pages)

4. International/national scholarship and fellowship awards

(Name of sponsoring organization, title of the award, date of award)

5. Honors and awards (for teaching, service, etc.)

(Name of awarding organization, title and description of honor/award, date)

6. Presentation at international conferences

(Name of sponsoring organization, title of presentation, and date(s) presented)

7. Leadership positions in regional or national professional organizations

(Name of organization, leadership title, term of service)

8. Other notable accomplishments

(Brief description of the accomplishment)

Eligibility

Faculty and administrators with faculty rank may nominate themselves for recognition of professional achievement within the last three years (2008-2010).

Submission

Individual Self-Nominations:

Each nominee's submission is limited to one item under one of the categories of achievement. Please click here to complete the Recognition of Excellence Online Submission process. Complete all information as you wish it to appear in the program.

Nominating others:

If you have a colleague you would like to see acknowledged by our Recognition of Excellence program, please encourage the colleague to nominate him or herself or you can nominate that person. If you nominate them, your colleague will receive an email indicating that he or she was nominated by others (your identity will remain confidential) and asking them to complete the online nomination process. In order to assure accuracy of information we require that all nominees complete this online nomination process. Persons nominated are required to attend New Horizons 2010. Email the name, title, college and email address of the person you wish to nominate to newhorizons@vccs.edu.

Note: All information must be submitted by online by January 30, 2010.
